Director of Lifetime Formation
Maintains and enhances the ongoing Christian Formation programs for children and youth, from infants through High School. Implements specific policies and programs of action decided upon by the Rector and Vestry in the area of lifetime Christian Formation. Director of Lifetime Formation will support current youth program while equipping parents and adults with the tools to discuss Christ and the Church outside the walls.
Responsibilities:
Administrator
Set and evaluate goals with parish staff and lay leaders
Recruit and sustain staff (Church School Teachers and nursery staff)
Prepare and maintain Christian Education budget
Maintain records and attendance of church school
Maintain contact with parents and children
Works with Parish planning committee
Communication - information to parish newsletters, bulletins, and communication team regarding Christian formation programs
Notify Rector of any building or equipment needs or issues
Educator
With input from teachers, parents, parish staff and lay leaders, choose, organize, order and prepare curricula for use in formation programs
Assist Rector, Youth Leader, Teachers, and Lay Leaders in developing an holistic plan for lifetime formation
Coordinate and/or participate in special programs regarding education such as Confirmation, First Communion, Episcopal Liturgy, etc.
Bring together materials and personnel (Serve as a resource for teachers, parish organizations, etc.
Manage and maintain resources (curricula, audio-visual, resource library, church school supplies)
Act as a source of information regarding theories of learning and developmental stages
Conduct meetings and teacher training
Work with staff and lay leaders to achieve communication and integrations regarding social and liturgical activities
Theologian
Communicate church doctrine and liturgical practices
Lead worship services with children when needed
Attend conferences and/or continuing education programs beneficial to the parish; relay information gathered
Pastor
Make referrals for those in need of assistance or counseling
Minimize conflict and inspire creativity with the teaching staff
Priorities
Facilitate the spiritual formation of Christ of families and their children
Develop/build participation of childrent and families
Recruit teachers when needed
Provide stability, strength, and focus in the constant changes and challenges faced by parents and their children in today's culture
Help develop alternate worship services that cater to families with conficts on Sunday Mornings (Messy Church, Dinner Church, Evening Family Worship)
The Director of Lifetime Formation works under the direct authority of the Rector in cooperation with the Vestry. Knowledge of the Episcopal Church and its liturgies would be an asset.
